An elevator or a lift is used to move people or goods between floors of a building. It is commonly powered by electric motors that either drive traction cables and counterweight systems, or pump hydraulic fluid to raise a cylindrical piston.

Depending on their speed, elevators can be divided into low speed elevators, high speed elevators and medium speed elevators.
Low speed elevators refer to lifts with speeds less than 1.00m/s. They are widely used in shopping center, factory, and public transportation place such as metro, station and airport.
Medium speed elevators are lifts whose speeds are 1.00-2.00m/s. They are mainly used in residential community, shopping mall, compact machine room, hospital, and so on.
High speed elevators are lifts with speeds higher than 2.00m/s. They are suitable for office building, commercial center, and public place.
